★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place looks old, I can imagine Chang Kai Shek asking his wife if she’d like to go on an incognito date to try a commoners luxury meal.
Madame Chang didn’t eat pork and they were out of chicken that day. They had to settle for the special: Signature beef tripe and shank ramen.
Getting dressed for the ocasión was a complicated matter, they had to get in disguise without overdoing it. The staff had to pretend they didn’t recognize them and the couple make like they were normal, it was a very uncomfortable situation for everyone.
They enjoyed the food and the rumor of this meal saved the restaurant many years later when it was facing foreclosure after a costumer found a dead rat floating in the stew. The manager said it was just beef tripes that hadn’t been properly cooked. Today the place is thriving and enjoying then patronage of Danshuiers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pork chop tastes firm as it is thick without breading or wrapping. Most of the pork chops offered by local diners are served with flour coating and pre-marinated in soy sauce. Such a shame that they could taste like only seasoned liquid. Their pork chop is popular, and drumsticks, beef are also available with noodles or rice. It’s said their pricing has over their dishes, however, this is a restaurant where lunchboxes are served on plate.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very popular, well known for its pork chop over rice. Tried both the rice and noodles. Love the texture of the rice, not too wet/soft, kind of chewy. The sour veg and bean curds sides were good compliments. The star, pork chop, it was reasonable in flavors and texture, a it salty for my taste. The noodles were al dente, okay in flavors, pricy though. Would definitely recommend the rice dish. Many other side dishes which were priced high. Service was a bit disorganized.

Great location, three restrooms at 2nd floor and overpriced food.
Menu looked good that pretends to sell assorted Taiwanese staple with great qualities and service but in essence it doesn’t.
Required 3 squeezed into 2 seats regardless only half seats taken in whole floor.
The taste of “fresh veggie noodles” was plain as what it meant literally: cucumber, bean curd and noodles.
The grade of rice and noodles they used indicated on menu can not proof them capable of doing great. In similar dinning culture like Japan, any food provider would never mention in that way.
Japanese people do as what customers should enjoy.
