It is not very perfect hostel but it can be acceptable!
They sell instant noodles and rice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I tried to drop off my bag around 1pm before check in and they wouldn't let me. It would have been no inconvenience to anyone. The worker there was extremely rude and started screaming at me even though I already paid for the upcoming night. This place is full of uneducated mountain people; completely unprofessional. DON'T STAY HERE!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Basic Lodge with good food and simple beds. The Lodge is meant for those acclimatizing for treks to Yushan. Word of warning there is little English spoken at the lodge and wifi is not available. Have a copy of your reservation ready. You can order breakfast and dinner and both are good. Hot water is available during meal times. Make sure to reserve ahead of time as there are limited spots and the space is often used by groups.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the only hostel (or any type of accommodation) near the Tatajia Saddle trailhead to Yushan/Jade Mountain. It is cheap for housing and food. It was fun staying with the other guests knowing we were all going to embark on a big hike early in the morning. Guests waking up super early (12 AM to 3 AM) are put in one room and guests waking up later (~6 AM) are put in the other room. This helps match you with people who (may be) going to sleep at a similar time as you. The others in my room wanted to keep the light on past my bed time (7:30) and some were snoring, but I mitigated both issues with an eye mask and ear plugs.
Good dinner and breakfast and welcoming hosts.
