Located in Fengyuan Zhongzheng Park, the Lacquer Art Museum is the first public lacquer art exhibition hall in Taiwan. The development of lacquer art in Taiwan can be traced back to the Japanese colonial era. At that time, Taichung County had two forest farms, Daxue Mountain and Baxian Mountain, which provided the materials needed for lacquer craftsmanship, so many lacquer talents were created. At present, most of the sumac trees in Taiwan have been converted to Annan species, but there are four Taitung sumac trees in front of the main entrance of the Lacquer Art Museum. You must go to the scene to see Taiwan's native sumac trees. The Lacquer Art Museum provides on-site DIY crafts, which is very suitable for students, parents and children to participate together.

The reason for the establishment of "Fengyuan Lacquer Art Museum" originated from the lacquerware culture in Fengyuan. It originated from the Japanese colonial era. Because the Japanese loved lacquerware, they planted lacquer trees in Taiwan at that time. Because there are two forest farms in Daxueshan and Baxianshan in Taichung City , providing the materials needed for the lacquer craftsmanship, and the Japanese planned to cultivate the lacquer craftsmanship in the central region, so many lacquer workers have been created. The city's lacquer ware industry was booming. At that time, the Fengyuan area once dominated the production of a large number of lacquer ware and exported it all over the world. In order to reinterpret the beauty of traditional lacquer art and give opportunities for the regeneration, development and innovation of lacquer art in the future, "Fengyuan Lacquer Art Museum" was opened on May 26, 1991. At present, the first floor of the building provides exhibitions, education, and leisure, and the second floor provides training, production, conferences and the shaping of the lacquer art cultural life park.
