★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful small town surrounding by mountains. Many trails can explore in the near by area, ranging from an easy to a challenging one, from a short to a long one. The food is tasty and unique. Highly recommend to visit when travel to Taiwan

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Don't go there on the weekend. There are many nice trails around the area. Recommend the one hidden behind the wood cafe on the top. It will take you to the Japanese historical remain (short trail) or bamboo forest (long one).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The FenQiHu old town, founded in 1850. The first settler saw that the area was surrounded on three sides by mountains, but had an opening in the south. This geographical position allows FenQiHu to have cool summers and warm winters.
FenQiHu was a major stop on the narrow gauge train from the city of JiaYi up to Alishan. The Japanese built and used the train for many kinds of raw material exports, most importantly Taiwan Cypresswood AKA Hinoki.
FenQiHu has an old street selling delicious foods and snacks, and the MUST TRY was the rice bento box (lunch box) that formerly sell to the train passenger that traveling between Alishan and JiaYi city.
Most of the shop close on evening about 7p.m. summer time and 6p.m. during winter, so don't be too late to be here.
You can find accommodation here as well as homestay, guest house and hotel.

You can freely walk around the train trail when there is no train around.
Picturesque scenery around the town.
It is advisable to have your own transport here as there are many nice scenery around this area.
