In the beginning, Master Hui Zhuan first explained that the food of Buddha Shakyamuni in India was made by begging, but because of cultural differences in the East, the bad impression brought by begging was transformed into growing vegetables and cooking in a pot. But because of this, the Buddhism group meal called "Dian Zu" must be given meaning and follow the teachings in the Buddhist scriptures. He believes that those who have offended the abbot and are punished can't sit in the temple kitchen. This is a place that extremely tests their own abilities. However, a meal in the monks + family members may start at a thousand people, and the big event may even reach Fo Guang Shan, which is nearly 20,000 people. The group meal may be the largest group meal in Taiwan. Everyone in the kitchen knows how difficult it is not to lose your temper in this dire and hot environment, not to mention how to solve the problem in a special emergency situation, as long as you are not angry. When only 3,000 people were prepared for meals, 18,000 people came. Not only can I blame Master Zhike for always welcoming guests to come in for dinner (Yunju Tower, where guests are dining in the Fo Guang Shan Guotang, the meal is freely donated, and there is no compulsory payment), I can only think about it. How can these 18,000 people not go home hungry? When believers donate a few metric tons of organic carrots and alpine cabbage to Fo Guang Shan, how can they not waste the kindness of the believers, leave them to be happy, and at the same time make the followers of Master Fo Guang Shan not feel that they eat the same dishes every day (Master Hui Zhuan said that this is how he learned to pickle dried cabbage). Although these are presented in the form of talking and laughing, the pressure behind the situation should only be overcome by those who are truly spiritual. Master Hui Zhuan also shared the six mindsets that Japanese Zen Master Dogen should have for Dianza: Daoxin (religious sentiment), support (service, bonding), Gongfuxin (improve one's mental preparation), and joy. (The joy of creating life), old heart (be considerate of each other), big heart (no difference). Master Hui Zhuan shared that many elderly believers came to Foguangshan during the puja. He would cook the dishes so that there would be no scum in the mouth so that believers do not need to chew all the time without shaving their teeth. It's not just a reminder for people who cook and group meals. For me, who is interested in cooking, in addition to tempering my emotions, I have to have the right attitude to cook for people around me. It's not just to be yourself cool, but to observe that the person who eats needs to give him food that suits him. Someone once said: Whether it is the emperor or the farmer who grows emperor beans; whether it is the president or the person who cleans the toilet next door to the president's home, they have to eat the same every day. So helping people cook is a great job. After such sharing, we can better understand the meaning behind this sentence. I still remember that Master Hui Zhuan finally shared a recipe for cooking cabbage. After cooking the cabbage, add soy sauce and cook the sauce to prepare the cabbage again. But why many people missed this step. Everyone answered in unison: "Scorched!" Mage Hui Zhuan came back with a carbine. Yes, if the fire is not well controlled, it will burn, and our emotions are the same. Suddenly, it was like getting a board in a meditation hall. Not only in the kitchen, but in many realms, I was burnt all at once! So set a new goal after listening to it, and make it less stinky!
