Comparing the photos of the old station, in the Taitung parking lot on Tingzhou Road, this small office should be the original location of the Gongguan Railway Station.

Xindian Line (also known as Wanxin Railway) is a traditional railway branch that was originally privately owned and was operated by the Taiwan Railway Administration after World War II. After diverging from Wanhua Station, the route gradually moved southeast to Gongguan and Jingmei, and gradually turned south. After crossing Jingmei Creek, it continued southbound, and finally reached Xindian Station. The entire line ceased operation in 1965, and most of the subgrade was converted into highways, which was the earliest railway branch of the Taiwan Railway.
The Xindian line was originally built in the mid-Japanese era. This private track was built and operated by builder Saiichi City. It was built and operated by a privately-funded Taipei Railway Co., Ltd. Among them, Wanhua = mansion section opened to traffic on January 22, 1921 (Taisho 10); mansion = Xindian section opened to traffic on March 25 of the same year. When the whole line is open to traffic, the travel time from Wanhua to the new store is about 50 minutes.
The original construction purpose was originally to facilitate the transportation of coal mines mined from Muzha, Shenkeng and Shiding. At that time, Taipei Railway Co., Ltd. operated two other tracks (coal transport trolley line)-Shenkeng Line (Jingwei = Shisong 10.6 miles in total length) and the 15-minute line (Jingwei = 15 minutes in length, 1.0 miles in total length), There are two stations with Jingwei and fifteen minutes, which can be transferred to Xindian Line.
Later, it was a bit of a tourist and commuter railway. In the past, when road transportation was not developed, many tourists often took the train to the Bitan Scenic Area not far from Xindian Station, or changed to a trolley. Go to Wulai for a tour. After the Taipei Imperial University (now National Taiwan University) was founded on March 16, 1928 (Showa 3), there is also a water source station at the gate of the school to serve nearby residents.
After the war (1949 (38 years of the Republic of China)), the Xindian line was bought by the Taiwan Railway and became a traditional railway branch line under its jurisdiction. The completion of the Beixin Highway in the mid-to-late 1950s and the opening of the passenger route of the Highway Bureau reduced the passenger capacity of the Xindian Line year by year, and the losses were also getting worse. In addition, the route did not use Taipei Station as the largest transit station as an end station. Even more destined to the decline of the new store line. Horie Station = Xindian station section was finally closed on March 24, 1965 (54 years of the Republic of China). As for Wanhua Station = Horie Station was used as the Horie sideline until it was abolished in 1968 (57 in the Republic of China), and the entire line was demolished in 1970 (59 in the Republic of China).
