As the name suggests, this location was named by the Spanish that occupied the area during the period of exploration. It became better known as the home of the British Consulate on Taiwan, but it happily shares its history of the various nations that have had a presence there. It has been well restored and certainly worth a walk though. The displays date back to the British era so the feel is of its heyday as a British colonial outpost.

Beautiful place even in the rain, suggest not to follow Google maps suggest to park in the hills park off the main road. Great little Cafe right across the street. Also check out the church, Oxford College and the little white house while there all walking distance.

Cute little fort with a British consulate building. Sitting on top of a hill, this is one of most nicely presented historic spots I’ve been to in Taiwan. It’s also a nice contrast to the bustle of the main water front and just a short walk away. The striking fort is full of explanations and information in English and Chinese. Next to it sits the Victorian consulate building, designed in a colonial style used in India. Each room is decorated as it would have been in when the British occupied it. It’s a great place to learn about the complex history between the two countries and well worth a visit for any history buff. The capacity of each building is currently limited to 40 people so I recommend avoiding busy holiday.

Sahay magwonder ko why dili popular ang Tamsui sa mga kababayan nato ug western tourist pero sa Asians famous kaayo? Tamsui has a rich culture, history and not to mention it's picturesque location. The romantic feels of holding hands while walking along the riverpark while munching on some delish Taiwanese street food is like heaven? Have you ever been here? Have you heard of Tamsui? It's like the honeymoon place for those who are in love with nature. It has every elements of life that we should get attached with everyday and renew or recharge. Aside from the healing view by the river, the history is an amazing touch of uniqueness. This Fort San Domingo is just one of the many historical relics from several years ago that a tourist must see. The RED CASTLE is a catch and the canons too? Basta lingaw gyud ang Tamsui labi na dire? 大家來玩淡水吧!淡水真的是一個很美的地方~全家人真的適合來看看風景~要來淡水有可能會看到我喔?我都在河邊散步?‍♀️~

Historical place with beautiful views of Tamsui river. I found fascinating that this place belonged or was occupied by more than three nations. Originally build by Spaniards conquerors, rebuilt by the dutch explorers, owned by the Chinese dinasty, and the consultate of the British empire. Later occupied by Australia and the United States, ruled by the Japanese and now, the historiacal place it is with different flags of the countries once were there. The building remains part of the original dutch structure.

This is a good a Fort with an interesting history. It started as a Spanish fort, was later a Dutch Fort and then was also leased as a British consulate. It overlooks the Tamsui river with some beautiful spots. It’s a small admission price of 80 NTD to get in and that also includes admission to 2 other places - The Little White House and Hobe Fort. Beautiful grounds and a nice place to visit.
