★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I love flea markets, and Fuhe did not disappoint. I took the MRT (Taipei subway) to Gongguan and then walked over the Yongfu Bridge, a journey of about 20 minutes. When I arrived at 06:45 on a Friday, the food market was already in full swing. If you really want to find authentic Taiwanese items they can be had among the junk, but you need to stick around for an hour or two while the vendors slowly unpack their wares. Bargaining is tricky for a Caucasian who has only a couple of words of Chinese, but by using the calculator on my phone I could discover the asking price and make a counteroffer. Be aware that this is a working and lively place, not a manicured mall created for tourists. If you're willing to put up with noise, dirt and dogs then you'll enjoy Fuhe, but for air-conditioned comfort and coffees stick to the Taipei shopping centres.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dirt cheap vegetables in this market. They also sell fresh meat and seafood but I don’t want to risk my stomach. The other half of this market is 2nd hand stalls, where various things are sold, like basketball rings, toilets and some nice shovels. There’s some food stalls too but not many food choices. It’s better to come here early in the morning because the sun and crowds will get fierce after nine.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A great place to walk around and see people selling their daily stuff from a comb to a sword, yes, I am serious, a sword. Looking from the bridge it seems to be small, but it took us the entire morning and we still could not finish the market. You can buy food and eat like a local here, super cheap. One box of 8 dumblings only cost 50 NDT here while the same quantity and quality of dumblings in Shilin market will cost 120 NDT. Noodles is great as well. Only 60 NDT and you will have a big size bowl of seafood noodles.
There is a large area next to the market where local people gather to dance, exercice, sing, play sports, etc. as well.
Such a lively and lovely place! Highly recommend! :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not many vintage clothes. Whatever is considered vintage are already super broken beyond repair or priced really high. I still think about the wooden secret almanac book from time to time. Seller wanted to sell it for 1200 twd. Vegetable and fruit market was big, but I didn't go there for those things. I bought some dresses and vintage clip on earrings.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've never understood the appeal of flea markets (expect maybe to find some cast iron pans) so this place is really not for me. Seriously, some of the "booths" are LITERALLY piles of garbage. The "barber shop" made me feel like I was back in mainland China. The morning noodles are convenient and they have self-cleaning bathrooms!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sunday morning is the best time to go to this flea market. You will find lots of special stuff and even unique unexpected antiques and lots of knickknacks at a very good price. There a fruit and vegetable market just right there and prices are very low. Notice that when flea market is about to close (thats around noon) you may move under the river bridge which is just nearby there you gonna find lots of stuff as well. Enjoy ?
