★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A wonderful place to get fresh air and soak up natural beauty. There are guides to answer your questions at the entrance. It's a nice walk that can be completed in an hour, but we spent 4 hours exploring! The botanical garden is also home to many kinds of insects and wildlife. Make sure you register online beforehand as they limit the number of visitors.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you like nature, you will definitely enjoy the visit! Very likely to have rainy days here because of the location, but the misty weather fits perfectly with the surroundings! If you are lucky you will also come across some wild animals! The ranger(?) is not very helpful??! Don’t expect much from him! There is limit for carrying capacity, so be sure to visit the website and apply for admission, free though! And during weekday it’s easy to make it successfully. We applied the night before and was noticed earlier in the morning of the acceptance! Quite winding roads up to the park but spacious enough mostly for two cars passing! The lake on the way is also worth visiting!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Kind of in the middle of nowhere, takes about 1.5 hours to explore the whole park seeing different plants and some wild animals if you are lucky enough. Basically a very informative and educational place, a good weather counts the most if you are expecting some nice photos. Free of entry, a permit is required thru online application.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very peaceful, rather tame - more garden (as the name suggests) than hike. Loads of animals! Great spot for kids who are curious. The drive up is long but very beautiful. A good place to learn the names of many native plants and trees. As mentioned by many, you need a permit (apply 30 days before), but it’s free.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a place not only for nature lovers, but also for everyone. You can find lots of unique plants and animals. The most verity of ferns, seasonal birds, and lots of mid altitude lake eco system. This is also the water source for yilan and taipei. No wonder it’s protected. You need permit to get in. So apply on line before your trip. 80% of the visits here were raining days. High humidity. So dress accordingly. Rain makes it really romantic.
