I wish there was a 3.5 star. The hostel is in a nice location and right on a small night market that serves great street food. The hostel has a system that requires a QR code to get into your room which is a fun novelty but after the first use becomes an issue. I was out all day and my phone battery died so someone had to let me. You also have to take your phone everywhere. The beds are not built for tall people, I am 6ft 3 and my feet stuck out the end. The top bunks are not closed on top which is less private. The room also got really cold and wet on some surfaces because of the condensation and lack of ventilation. However the staff were nice, one lady in particular who stole my heart without realising. An intellectual with good English and glasses who was just the best at making a latte. Didn't even get her name, damn my lack of confidence! It's good and bad.

Fantastic place to stay in Taichung. Loved the retro decor in the restaurant, which also serves very good cocktails. Highly recommended.

They don't change the bedsheets between guests. They give you another flimsy piece of cloth to lay over (not put on, just lay over top of) a portion of the mattress and pillow. The last person did not do this and there was pieces of skin and hair on the mattress and on top of the pillow. Literally the MINIMUM expectation I have for a place that I stay in is that they CHANE THE BEDSHEETS BETWEEN GUESTS. I've stayed in a decent number of hostels, I understand they're not 5 star hotels, they can be dingy(which this one isn't, everything about it is actually very nice) , they can smell like feet (this one does smell like feet, but that's fine it's a hostel, I accept that ), but come on guys, change the sheets.

It’s very kindly and friendly staff there. Cool with the room key. QR code is necessary if you want to enter your room. Every room has its own QR code. By the way...if you’re taller than 180 cm, the bed may be not good for you. The space is not big.

This hotel is so integrated. I ordered the bunk bed for women. And I was directed to a special floor that maybe only for women. And we need to have a special QR Code to enter the room. Even the toilet is so integrated and the bathroom is so cozy. But if you are outside your room, dont forget to bring your handphone to scan the QR code. So that you can come inside your room.

This is a unique hostel This is a unmanned hostel, one of their unique things is that you open the room with QR code sent to your phone Don't afraid someone take your QR code, because the code will change every 10 seconds! The bistro downstair also has nice foods and drinks The staffs in the bistro are nice and helpful

NO HOT WATER!!! April 2022 Updating my review A year and a bit later since I first stayed here, I figured it wasn't bad the first time. Great location and comfortable beds, so I decided to stay here again. Worst decision... Although they had made some small improvements, such as new lockout curtains. The place is more rundown than last time!! Showers still dirty, now with yellow stains. Broken lift buttons with worn-out signs. Dusty bench tops and malfunctioning QR code scanner for room key. However the staff are still friendly and helpful, but I feel like they are over worked and under staffed. Level 7 female dorms was booked over capacity and most people I asked had no hot water to shower. Staff was very kind and apologetic but I believe this should not have happened in the first place. If it's an old building and limitations than management should cap reservations at what the hot water system can handle!! Not letting the staff having to deal with angry customers. 0ct 2020 - Great location, just at the end of one of the main shopping eating streets. Facilities tho could do with a deep cleaning, shower head was mouldy and doors had stains. Decent soundproofing (being on a busy street), comfortable bedding, although mattress are on the harder side. All in all good hostel, just needs some love and care, to improve.

Booking system a complete joke. I booked, rang to reschedule they said okay. I went to sort later. Useless customer service couldn't sort after saying they did. Had to cancel booking. Probably sleep in 7~11. They don't match price online. They make everything awkward. Avoid like the plague. Horrendous.
