Grand Hi-Lai Hotel

This is a different kind of positive review, because I didn't get a chance to stay at the hotel due to covid-related cancellation of a performance in Kaohsiung. It was booked through another service, which I found out was a "non-refundable" booking, and the service said I had to contact the hotel directly to see if they would be amenable to a refund. I spoke to Joanne Lim at the Grand HiLai, and she was prompt, understanding, and able to help out with a full refund. I really appreciate the Grand HiLai for their great customer service, and I will definitely and happily book with them in the future when I do get a chance to visit!

Stayed at this hotel a few times over the years and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Kaohsiung, the staff are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are not very modern but very clean, comfortable and well maintained. There are lots of restaurant in the hotel and all I've tried have been excellent. The views of the city from all rooms are incredible! Try and get a high floor. Taxis always available at the entrance.

This has long been the benchmark for hotels in Kaohsiung. Traditional appointments and outstanding service. Excellent venue for important events.

Excellent! The staffs are friendly and professional. Room is big and clean. Instruments are quite good and useful. BTW the price is amazing for a good 5star hotel. However, the fragrance of can be updated.

Not cheap but a very good value for Western visitors to Kaohsiung. Staff at the front desk, concierge, left-luggage, and taxi stand all spoke good English. Excellent service: the concierge, though unfamiliar with American-style gift bags filled with tissue paper, made a couple of phone calls and quickly procured the bag and the paper. One evening we discovered that the maid, unbidden, had untangled and carefully laid out a tangled necklace left in the bathroom. The eleventh-floor outdoor pool is generously sized, with separate lanes for playing and swimming laps, and the private poolside showers, changing rooms, and suit dryer mean you can avoid traipsing through the hotel in a dripping swimsuit. The only downside, for an American, is the lack of obvious ice machines, but there was an ice bucket in the room. The deluxe family room had two queen-size beds and a separate sitting area with a phenomenal view. Everything was impeccably clean. Didn't try out any of the restaurants, so can't comment on those. If you've already splashed out on the room and want to save money on breakfast, see my review of the Wuming Breakfast Restaurant which is almost comically close by.

This hotel can be the best one in Kaohsiung because of the skyscrapers’ look, location of central city heart, great warming service, good food of varied choices and other advantages that might be too many to talk about it. Therefore, it’s worthwhile visiting at least once in life time!!!!! Recommend it for five stars. It’s a supreme one of my hotel recommendations.

Room not ready when I arrived, room service only answers about half the time and housekeeping often neglects to replace used items. Changed to 5 stars as the hotel did take my complaint seriously and has been otherwise excellent.

Really nice hotel lovely clean rooms! We enjoyed our stay and definitely would go back here!
