Guanyin District (Hakka vernacular characters: Kôn-yîm-khî; Taiwan Hakka Hailuqi: gonˋrhimˋkiˋ; Raoping dial: guanˇrhimˇkiˇ), formerly known as Shiguanyin, is a municipal district located on the western coast of Taoyuan City, Taiwan. Huang, a farmer and worker of Shipailingzhuang in Zhubei Erbao, accidentally picked up a natural stone that resembled Guanyin Bodhisattva and worshipped it , Known as Shi Guanyin, and later built Shi Guanyin Temple (later called Ganquan Temple) in this village. This village is also called Shi Guanyin Village. In 1920, the local government in Taiwan was reorganized and changed to Guanyin Village, which belonged to Zhongli County, Hsinchu Prefecture. In 1946, it was renamed Guanyin Township. On December 25, 2014, in response to Taoyuan County’s promotion to a municipality, the original Guanyin Township was changed to Guanyin District and the village was changed to Li.
