★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Guo Mao is a vibrant morning market. You'll find an ample selection of seasonal fruit, vegetables, and nuts. Vendors with fresh eggs, baked goods, and noodles line the narrow paths. There's a playground in the center of the circle-shaped clearing among several apartment buildings. Come early if you even want a shot at a car parking space. Your is are better for bikes and scooters. There no haggling here, but the local Taiwanese vendors are sure to give you your money's worth, and possibly a small gift of something extra too. Foreigners don't need to be worried about being taken advantage of; every experience I've had here has been above-board, honest, and helpful.
When you're done with your fruits and veggies, step inside for chicken, pork, fish, and lamb. Then finish your trip with dumplings and coffee from the food vendors that line the outside ring of the market. Yum!
