Haynes Morris Apparel (Swedish: Hennes & Mauritz AB, Swedish pronunciation: [ˈhɛ̂nːɛs ɔ ˈmǎʊrɪts], abbreviated H&M, [ˈhôːɛm]) is a Swedish multinational fashion company headquartered in Stockholm with operations in Asia, Europe and the United States There are branches in many countries, and the products are famous for their cheap prices. H&M was founded in Västerås, Sweden in 1947 by Erling Persson. A trip to the United States by H&M founder Person inspired him to open a store that offers high-end fashion women's clothing at low prices. The clothing store is called Hennes, which means "her" in Swedish. The first Hennes clothing store opened in Westeros in 1947, which is now the predecessor of H&M. Hennes expanded to most of Sweden in the mid-1960s, and in 1964 and 1967 opened up new markets in neighbouring Norway and Denmark. In order to further expand its market share in Stockholm and expand its product line, in 1968 Persson acquired a firearms and hunting supplies store called Mauritz Widforss, and thus acquired its menswear business. After this Hennes changed its name to Hennes & Mauritz and has been in use to this day. In the following years, H&M has successively added product lines for children, teenagers and even baby clothes. In the 1970s H&M began to expand to European countries outside the Nordic region.
