Ershawan Fort, also known as Haimen Tianxian, was built on the hill of Ershawan in Keelung City. During the Qing Dynasty Daoguang years (1840 AD), the Sino-British Opium War broke out. In order to stop the British offensive, the Qing court built a southwestern northeast. Ershawan Fortress. In 1884, when the Qing and French War broke out, the Qing court sent Liu Ming to Taiwan to consolidate Keelung ’s coastal defense. Therefore, it introduced Western-style cannons to rebuild the Ershawan Fort on the Ershawan Mountain. It is now a Grade I historic site. Stacked in stone, it is a traditional Chinese Chinese city gate building method. After experiencing the Opium War, the Sino-French War, and the Battle of Uncut Tower, the city gate, the barracks wall base, the large staircase, the gun base, the sub-wall and the ammunition storage are still preserved. Buildings such as the Treasury, and the majestic momentum of defending Keelung ’s coastal defense at that time, Ershawan Fort has witnessed history, has educational and historical value, and because of its high position, it has an excellent view and is worth your visit.
