★ ★ ★ ★ ★ East gate is much longer and you can climb on top for a good view. There are a lots of activity around this place.. people jogging, playing games and performance nearby.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ HengChun east gate is fun to visit. HengChun is working on restoring all the walls of the city. There are many sections where you can walk in the wall. Worth a short visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The wall next to the gate is removed for the road. The gate is preserved at decent condition. You may follow the stairs to go on to the gate.
There is a wooden structure near the east which is used to for a traditional wood climbing festival every year for the local indigenous people. they will put oil onto the wooden pills and layers have to climb to the top for the prize. Quite an interesting event.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not much here to see but worth a quick visit and a photo. There's parking nearby for cars and coaches. You can climb the stairs and walk a short distance on the walls.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This little town could do very well by better promotion of it's beautiful wall, ancient history and delicious foods. This gate and the rest of the town wall have been some of the most interesting history I've encountered in my months here in Taiwan.

The place around have a lot of free car park which make this easier to reach and have time go around.
