★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice place to spend Sunday morning and afternoon. Electronic bike (for 2 people) costs 200 per bike for whole day and has enough battery to go and come back (almost 30 KM) the way.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a great bike activity to do with friends and family and I highly recommend it for a fun and easy weekend near Taichung. There's several kilometers of bike track that follows an old railway line and lots to see and do along the way. It can get really busy but it's still good fun. You'll find plenty of places to snack and grab a drink along the way - we had stinky tofu and then stopped for tea and cake at the end. Rental places to get a bike for the day are at the start and there are several bridges, railway structures and points of interest such as the large dam to check out.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very scenic ride, indeed! What a cool experience to cross the bridge and ride through the tunnel. If you take the left fork, the route is shorter but that's the tunnel/bridge crossing. Take the right fork and its a scenic country side view.
I highly recommend riding both trails. We went on a weekday so it wasn't busy. Along some stretches, we had the trail to ourselves. There are shops along the way selling food and drinks in case you didn't bring any.
Absolutely loved the bike path and would definitely do it again when I'm back in Taichung.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are many bicycle rentals at both end of the bikeway (the other one in Dongshi) as well as in Houli across the river so you can rent your own bike. The bikeway was largely built upon the remains of the former Dongshi Line of TRA so there are some related "relics" along the way.
The bikeway can be extremely congested during weekends and public holidays and unfortunately some people just make this situation even worse by carelessly jaywalking with no regard to passing bicycles (especially nearby the bridges) or browsing phone while riding. One must ride very carefully.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My favourite spot for a weekend getaway. It could be much better if public toilets could have been more than one or two at the beginning and the final destination of the bikeway.
