Howard Plaza Hotel Hsinchu

Very competitively priced rooms, hotel is showing its age but location is good, has very good kids playpen area and also indoor pool on the roof!

It's an ordinary hotel... 900m from Big City Mall, restaurants and shops reachable by feet 400 - 1000m. Station around 1000m... The rooms are OK... Normal standard. TV, fridge, safe, JP style toilet

I would say it’s such an old building within the central of the old town. The standard room in 3F, the parking and all the equipment and swimming pool are tiny and out of the time. The design of the shower was unbelievable and disgusting. For a star-level hotel. It’s quite worst and over-rewarded. The air conditioning is noisy and hard to sleep well during our stay.

The hotel is genuinely disgusting. It’s a 3-stars shabby hotel. Don’t be fooled by the chain brand. If you are struggling with other 3-4 stars hotel, choose other newer one. This one will definitely disappoint you. We check-in around 18:00. The room which is just right above a steak restaurant was full with the cooking smell when we entering the room. We asked to change the room, and the hotel downgraded us to another smaller room without any prior notice nor compensation. The room was musty. Probably because of the open toilet design and the wood floor which is fusty and almost rotted. The shower room is disgusting. It’s moldy everywhere. The service is also bad. I made several in-house calls to the front desk and the house keeping respectively around 20:00. There was no one answered that I had to walk down to the reception eventually. I understand sometimes they could be too busy to answer the phone, but the receptionist seems not surprised nor regret about no one answered the phone. Also, the receptionist was not willing to provide additional bedding in the beginning. According to her, if they give us one more duvet, there will be one room has no duvet that they are unable to sell that room in that night. I was actually quite amused by the response. Not mentioning the hotel has no extra bedding supply, it was already 20:30 when we had that conversation. I am definitely NOT recommend this hotel.

We stayed on the 13th floor. It was quiet and the view was fine. The bathroom cleanness could be improved. I could still see hair on the floor and in the bathtub drain. There is a strong artificial smell in the lobby. Overall, if you are looking for a nice bed and clean sheets, it might be a good choice.

The sink is outside and it is plugged up. Overall it is good, the bed is soft!

Fantastic hotel and facilities. Rooms are very spacious and beds comfortable. There is a buffet breakfast which is delicious and caters for all. The restaurant is amazing and cheap with a 6 course meal costing less than 1000TWD. There is also a cafe just after reception which puts out great meals and also very cheap. The staff from management down are always smiling and ever helpful. Big thanks to Amy the manager for looking after me. Swimming pool, sauna and gym on the top floor along with a kids play area. Overall a fantastic stay and I will return.

Friend recommended this hotel, booked the suite for 2 months stay. Room is spacious and clean with full amenities. Enjoyed my stay here, very polite staffs and great service. Many dining places nearby and very convenient. Will be stay here again if i travel to Hsinchu.
