★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had wild boar sausages (good), honey cake (not too sweet! Like a pancake), these pork belly and/or tofu gua bao (the one pictured has both proteins. Very tasty and filling!), and braised pork rice. It’s a good place to come to eat (lots of variety, cheap, fast), but it is maybe not worth a special trip (similar to other markets).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing place to walk around, have some food and snacks, and relax. Lots of place to sit, and many hotels and B&B in the area.
Don't forget to get your tickets for the 5:20 pm (last) boat if you aren't planning to stay.

But it is a crowd district.
Near by ferry if like the view of sun moon lake, could take ship surround lake
Many Parkinglots but also many people here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a nice walk around although we are here during covid (border closure), and when there is a drought in Taiwan so quite low season and a number of stores closed. Quite a bit of touting going on to buy their local liquor, of which I myself caved and bought one too (300 NT, I didn't bother bargaining) from an elderly lady just to give her some business and that it was actually quite good.
Not much else to do as everything starts to close by around 6pm. Restaurants start to open though and you can go for a walk by the lake too.
Edit: came here the next day and it was packed. Pretty lively in the day just that things start closing at around 5pm.
