★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you've seen ''spirited away'' this is probably what this place will remind you of (and part of the reason why it is so famous). The food offer is more diverse I'd have thought, with also the possibility to buy some nice tea or just sit down and enjoy a nice cup in one of the tea houses. Having visited the place in winter, when it was mostly rainy and quite misty, it's not exactly the best place for an outing as you'll have to expect a nice, cold, rain shower but it was still a beautiful place to see despite the bad weather.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is definitely worth a visit even if you have visited many times previously. What I love about Jiufen is it’s infrastructure and surrounding environment that is rich with culture and excitement. Every type of food or store gives you a different experience. We reached there before 12 and the timing was prefect as the crowd hasn’t arrive and we were able to get good food and have a place to sit and eat. Photo spots were available too which was great. We aim to make this place our bimonthly weekend getaway for good food and breathtaking views.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This town which was an isolated small village until the discovery of gold in 1893 was originally built by the Japanese and quickly developed the town due to a gold rush. Many buildings in the town are preserved to this day and now a maze of alleyways and lanes with rich culture and history. Nowadays, Jiufen is a popular destination that remembers and celebrates Taiwanese history and culture. A day tour may not be enough to explore and enjoy the place. Early reservation may be necessary if you want to stay overnight since the guesthouses and hotels can easily fill-up specially on weekends.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the most visited old streets in Taiwan. Can take a long walk all around for hours enjoying the traditional delicacies and treating our eyes with the arts and crafts. It is a very different feeling when you visit it during the day and night and I would prefer the later to see the lights along the landscape.Simply beautiful!
I reckon the most profitable business there is renting the parking space. That's something that I felt was super expensive especially with the car. Counting as one of the most famous spots in the country, it is quite reasonable though.
If you are somewhere in the north of Taiwan, make sure you visit Jiufen at least once and if possible stay till it gets dark to see the splendid beauty of Jiufen.

It is one of the popular stops for a weekend to hang out with your friends and enjoy shopping, the cafeteria, street foods, clothes, footwear, and lots more. Spirited away movie is inspired by this town. It is well connected to public transportation from Taipei and Songshan. It has a public and private parking area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A small town located on the sides of the hill with an old street that is full of local delicacies.
Recommended to stay there over the night at the B and B there as the night view is very vastly different from the day view and is worth a visit.
Also would advise to check the weather before you visit so that you can prepare your attire appropriately.
