John Dough Pizza - Lane 2

Finally!! Authentic pizza in Taiwan! Crust is perfect.

This place is a hidden gem. Slovenian owner has a real passion for ‘filling the void’ in Taiwan- good pizza. Call ahead if you’re in a hurry because it may take awhile- especially when busy. It is well worth the wait tho- and there is plenty to talk about with the dude while you wait. Best. Damn. Taiwan. Pizza. And quite cheap.

Not a bad pizza, but there’s definitely room for improvement. The dough is wonderfully crispy on the outside, but unfortunately it’s either too oily or hasn’t been risen properly (or both) so inside the crispy shell is a very mushy, deflated, non fluffy dough interior. This also resulted in the pizza being insanely heavy. Are Half the pizza and I wanted to sleep for 5 hours (very rare for me) The cheese wasn’t particularly flavorful, I suspect because they’re using partially skimmed (or just low quality) mozzarella, which leads to a bland flavor and less creaminess. The sauce was good, not tinny or bitter. Could be a bit sweeter but finding good tomatoes in Taiwan is no easy task. The toppings were of good quality. The oven needs to be hotter so the cheese and toppings caramelize equally fast as the crust. Price is reasonable and I guarantee you you won’t leave this place hungry (for better or worse) The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, unlike many places in hengchun they stick to their google maps hours instead of annoyingly choosing random close times each day. The owner has great music taste and it was a nice place to relax after a long day. Quite frankly this is the second best pizzaria in hengchun and it ties for third in the entire kenting area - which is pretty good since there are a lot of bad pizza places in the area. The best spot is only open a few days a week, so during the week John dough will definitely be my backup plan.

Best pizza place so far in Taiwan. Perfect crisp crust and proper spices, also polite and knowledgeable staff.

I must say I can't remember ever eating a better pizza than here. Me & my wife shared the vegetarian & it was amazing, nice & crispy on the outside & soft on the inside. Well worth a try if your in Hengchun!

Very good pizza. The crust was perfect, the topping very good. I had the pepperoni. They don’t serve pasta, salads or desserts. Located in what looks to me like a residential area but there are several restaurants nearby. It feels like you are in the back garden of the owner’s house instead of in a restaurant. Friendly owner, reasonable prices.

As an American, this is what I think of when somebody says “pizza”! Yum!!!! Better than any pizza I’ve had in Taipei, that’s for sure! No corn on this ‘za! Just yumminess!!!

Homemade pizzas? are always delicious, waited for 1 hour and ate 6 slices from each pizzas " cheese, double cheese, smoked beef, bacon, and pineapple ". People from kenting should try this stuffs.
