Kaohsiung American School

This school is a joke. There's hardly any education. My friends told me that there are teachers who barely teach kids anything. I had friends who told me multiple time that some of the KAS students would go and "show off" in front of other school students next to KAS. This school is just a major disappointment.

My son attended this school for 1 year. It was the most terrible school that I have ever experienced. I am very suspicious of this school teachers' educational back grounds. Most of the students, specially in high school, are demotivated by incompetent teachers. This is Kaohsiung for Taiwan students who rarely speak in English during the school time. Apparently the school management team does not care about it whatever parents suggest Do not be attracted by its nice building.

This school is amazing and it's really fun, yet theres amazing education where the teachers are all extremely hard working :))

The way students dressed is inappropriate; the culture of this school is mostly about rich people, they compare each others cars and look down on you if you're bad at english so they make up excuses to not do team work with you. The academic in general in this school is pretty slack, those that works hard, works hard, those that don't blame it on teacher being incompetent and don't study for themself, yet it's their future, not the teachers. Though I do heard there's many teacher that came on a short term, either it's their first teaching experience, or to enjoy their life in Taiwan, so I would say the quality of the teacher is not really reliable. For foreigner, I apologize if some students in KAS appear snobbish and unfriendly, as you know, they are from a well off family unlike most people in Taiwan. It's from my experience as well, even though I'm Taiwanese, I've never seen people like that from local schools. Also, the fact that PTA held "perfume class" for parents pretty much already shows that they are not a serious school, rather it is for catering for those parents' enjoyment ain't it the case?

My child joined the secondary school in KAS. I feel that this school is the worst international school for foreigner that I have ever seen in Netherlands/Germany/USA/Taiwan/Korea. My child wasted time in KAS and needed to study again to make up those time in KAS. I saw that some teachers did not have commitment but looked like short-term visitors. Building of KAS is very good with very high school fee compared to living cost in Taiwan, but teaching of KAS is very doubtful.

Many of mine friends study in TAS. I have a good idea to KAS.

Very disappointed with this fancy expensive school. KAS lacks in every department!!! It’s an American school but they rather have the students learn Chinese for one hour a day than for the local Taiwanese students (“with a foreign passport”) learn English. My child’s grammar and English is worse than it was before she started school here. It’s unbelievable. If you’re looking for sports or extra curricular activities, LOOK ELSEWHERE!!! They will raise the tuition each year but they don’t even have a track or baseball field. What a joke. After school clubs is first come, first serve. It’s pretty funny because we sign up on as soon as the email comes in and never get in to a club but of course the Taiwanese kids get in. Even a Taiwanese parent told me she didn’t sign up until one hour after getting the email and got a club for a child. Then she laughed and said maybe it’s because she knows the Taiwanese staff member. If you’re a foreigner, expat, whatever - look elsewhere. Maybe Morrison or schools on Taichung or Taipei? Fortunately for us, we are relocating. I have already made a notice to my company to send their employee’s dependents to other schools.

This is an amazing school, there are many fun activities for students to participate in and clubs like (Modern United Nations, Global Issues Network, and much more educational activities) The education there is great and there are cool teachers and counselors and helpful staff/ assistants. There is also good and yummy food like boba tea and tea and more for students to eat. The lunch is also pretty good.
