在1903年是由石坂莊作成立
全台灣第一所私立學校「基隆夜學校」
（現光隆家商前身）
供失學者夜間進修且學費全免的職業學校
1940年石坂莊作病逝
1951年柯蘭芬教士
於此建立基隆第一間浸信會
目前位於半山上的建築
仍可見到可能是當時建築所遺留下來的少部分遺跡：
例如內包陶土外覆三合土的落水管
具洗石子書券軸的階梯等
