Kenting Tranquility resort hotels - Hengchun Township

Stay: 2017 Sept. 18-25 Travelling: alone Room: Deluxe Double Room with Sea View and Balcony Price: 21.080 TWD Room size: The size of the room was really big, more than enough. You could open your suitcase easily on the floor and there was lots of free space left. The bathroom was also spacy. The bathroom is separated by a milk glass door, not lockable, and a huge clear window from the room. hence sea view from the bath tub but you’d also have to shut a blind on the window if you’re going to the bathroom and are accompanied by a not so close friend. Cleanliness: Everything was very clean (no stains, no hair on the bed, no dust anywhere to be found). In the bathroom, there was no mold. A little sand was left in the room after housekeeping. Housekeeping came in every day if requested, emptied the bins. Though housekeeping did not walk into my room I was missing signs to indicate whether the room was occupied or ready to be cleaned and if the towels should be changed or not. Interior: In room: Floor tiles, curtains, wardrobe, mirror and small worktop, refrigerator for own use (no mini bar), kettle without the electric base (so not working, but cold and hot water was available at water dispenser on each floor in the hall), two armchairs and a small glass table, big double bed, flat screen TV (few English channels), many lights including colored LEDs, Instructions for AC, TV and WiFi in Chinese. Bathroom: Floor tiles, Jacuzzi, regular Western style toilet, big lavatory, towel rag right above the toilet. General: 24hr reception, one elevator (sufficient in my opinion), free water from dispenser on each floor, free water bootles from the fridge in the front hall, free coffee machines in the front hall, washing machine in the basement (no dryer). Wifi: free, quite fast, but with restricted access to block sites that the provider declares for “adults only” and so blocked even some other sites. Missing: Channel list, a safe in the room, English instructions for the Air Conditioning, the base for the kettle, tumble dryer Amenities Free tea and instant coffee, bathrobe, toothbrush and paste. Coffee and cold water bottles in the front hall. Staff: Staff was young and only one of them was speaking sufficient English to communicate in a proper way. So, communication was hard and sometimes only worked with the mobile phone as translator. Still they have tried their best. Unfortunately, the recommended bar had already been closed for good, just to give you an example. All in all, friendly and supportive but sometimes not helpful. Breakfast: A basket of breakfast was brought to your room each morning and the service staff rang your door bell. Time was settled with the front desk. You were not asked for any preferences. First day I was having a big sandwich with peanut butter, some eggs and fruit or tomatoes. The next days one part of the breakfast always was some kind of warm (not hot anymore) fast food, either chicken nuggets, fried chicken breast or omelet, all covered in ketchup and/or soy sauce. Breakfast came with milk, boiled eggs and some fruit or tomatoes each day. I would have preferred coffee or milk tea and a sandwich from time to time. Location: The hotel is situated between the Kenting street market and a beach, not directly adjacent to the road, so rather quiet but still central. The beach is across the street and a parking but you are not allowed to swim there because there is no life guard and undercurrents can be strong. To go to the beach where you can swim you’ll have to do a 20 minutes’ walk. Else you should know that this small town/village of Kenting street market is not very big and so you might want to rent a scooter to move around the south a bit. To get to the close bus stop in Kenting you’ll have to take a 2 hours bus ride from Kaohsiung, where you’ll find an airport and the terminus of the High Speed Train. Cost-value-ratio: On the one hand, the room is big and the non-swimming beach is close as well. On the other hand, the service and breakfast is not worth the price. All in all, it could be a bit cheaper.

There are many little hotels here in kenting and this wouldn't be a bad one to pick. You and literally steps from the beach. Although when we went there were under currents at this beach so you aren't allowed to swim. The hotel seems clean. They have a fridge in the lobby that they keep fully stocked with water for you to have as you need it. It doesn't seem like any of the staff knows much English, so be prepared.

Good location, staff, free breakfast was nice too. The breakfast was different daily. Free washing machine but the dryer isn't that great it takes forever to dry. The only gripe I have is the lobby smells like harsh cleaning chemicals. The bathroom in the lobby made my head hurt I think it was their cleaning chemicals used. The room was fine no harsh chemicals. It was spacious and had a balcony. The bedding covers and furniture was a little worn/ dated but usable.

The hotel is comfortable and clean, truly value for money. As mentioned by other travellers, sound proofing can be improved. Another factor for travellers planning to rent scooters or bike during their stay here should take note to not take up hotel's partnered bike shop "華哥电动车出租". Rates charged was higher than others. The bike we rented came with scratches. During our rental, the bike was slightly scratched as it has fall off due to strong winds at kenting. Bike shop owner noticed the additional scratches and took advantage of the situation, demanding for compensation for those areas where there had already been scratched. We had to top up some money as the owner had taken our driving license card into custody until return of bike. Whilst hotel environment and staff are nice, travellers staying here should take note of potential scamming by the bike shop.

Pretty nice place. Small, pretty bare bones, but the room was large and clean and from the third floor it does have an ocean view. Our room also had a nice balcony. Parking is a pain as the lot is a few minutes walk down the road, but it is a pretty convenient walking location to the beach and night market. They also had free bottled water and bring breakfast to your room in the morning.

This was a lovely getaway for my family and me. There is a nice rooftop balcony where you can watch the sunset over the ocean. The location is close and convenient to the Night Market and there is free parking accessible a block or so away. Very clean and the staff were kind and helpful. I would recommend this hotel as a nice place to stay. My only complaint is if you are on the first floor, the noise from the lobby carries down the hallway and can be quite loud.

A really cozy hotel. Room was clean and spacious for two people. Spa bath was also satisfying. Beach access is convenient and was a good experience..

Steps from the beach and night market. Great location, helpful front desk staff but English not so great, Google translated our way through. Wanted to extend another night - took us 3 hours, 2 room changes and having to wait in lobby with our luggage. Price was fair we stayed Lunar NY weekend. Would stay again during a less busy time!
