An interesting museum with tons of information about the native tribes of Taiwan. There are a few floors of exhibits.

A well organized layout and decoration for this museum here to express the history of aboriginal tribes in Taiwan. You can tell all the features of each tribe in every location. We are all immigrants from Mainland China in Taiwan. All introduction for tribes are in details. All information are useful and educational for parents and kids. A very good place for kids and friends to refresh the culture itself. Enjoy it.

Imposing building outside, but only 3 floors are devoted to displays and exhibitions. The regular exhibits on the 2nd floor has some (bi-lingual) information on all of the different native tribes, and an exhibition by artists in the basement. Worth a visit since it is close to other attractions in the area, if only to have a brief introduction to all the native tribes of Taiwan

A pleasant and refreshing visit, though a lot of the exhibits were closed as well as a restaurant located on the 8th floor.

It's the place to go to learn about the culture of the first settlers of the island. I particularly enjoyed the colorful traditional costumes of the various ethnic groups and the artwork of their contemporary artists. There's very little discussion on the gradual takeover of the island by the colonial powers and mainland Chinese and the extent of their influence on the locals. From the little that I read, it seems that the locals fared better compared to the indigenous people of North America. An English brochure is available at the reception but a majority of the exhibits only have Chinese text. Admission is free. My visit lasted an hour.

This is great, if slightly academic, place to get an overview of Taiwan’s indigenous tribes and to learn about their history. Even with 3 floors there are so many tribes that it’s hard to provide more that an overview of each tribe. However it certainly helps you to understand not only the tribes in the western and central Taiwan, but the mostly assimilated tribal groups in the east. I appreciated that they provided information in English in the permanent exhibitions. I also really enjoyed the history of sulphur/sufer mining video. The basement held a colourful painting exhibition that gave an insight into the culture of one of the tribes. Probably not the place to take children as everything is a bit dry, I would recommend that the volunteers do some small hands on activities linked to the cultures
