米の生産の他、オクラの生産量は台湾全体の６割を占めていると言う。他にもスイカの接ぎ木の技術水準が非常に高く、スイカの苗木の一大集積地でもあると聞く。
この地の人々はほとんどが福建省の閩南地域から来た人たちで、今も沢山の閩南地方の様式を伝える建物、農村風景、生活習慣、遺跡、文物などが残されており、年寄りたちから伝えられる 食、手工芸品は日々の暮らしの中に根付いているという話を聞いた。
