 The head of the cat's nose is about 3.5 kilometers from the white sand. It is named after a coral reef rock that rolls down from the sea cliff in this area. Maobitou is the boundary between the Taiwan Strait and Bastrait, and forms the southernmost end of Taiwan with the goose nose. Cat nose is a typical eroded terrain of coral reef coasts. It looks like a girl's pleated skirt from the bird's eye view, so it is called the skirt reef coast. It has been affected by long-term wave erosion, repeated dry and wet, long-term salt crystals, sand grain erosion, and dissolution. It produces strange landscapes such as cliffs, pot caves, reef pillars, and inter-layer caves, which are of great terrain teaching and research value. There are many types of seaweeds in this area; as winter is suitable for algae breeding, lush and green rock slugs, brown horsetail algae, red algae, etc. can be seen swaying with the waves, along with the blue clear waters, colorful tropical fish, and coral reefs. The petrographic facies are very ornamental. On the way from Maobitou to Houbi Lake, there is a huge avalanche called thunderstone. The adjacent small beach has a quiet environment and a world-class beach rock landscape. According to the research of experts, the formation of beach rock may be caused by groundwater dissolving Hengchun platform limestone. The layers re-condensed when heated out of the beach.

There are beautiful coastal reefs along the coast, one of which is shaped like a squatting cat. From the observatory, you can see the Taiwan Strait, the Bashi Strait and the Pacific Ocean at the same time. Facing Eluanbi Park in the distance.
