柯	柯佑明（Alex） on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Maokong Gondola was originally built as a means to encourage tourists to learn about Taiwan teas and bring commerce to a much neglected and rural section of South Western Taipei. It definitely succeeded in both. The gondola provides awesome views of New Taipei City, and if it's a clear day (which is and isn't often), you can actually see views of Taipei City. Taipei 101 is pretty visible even through overcast skies. Once you get to the top, take in the views at one of the local tea cafes, where they also serve tea infused meals, or desserts if you aren't hungry. You can hike up to the top gondola area if you know the routes to take, or from any of the other way stations on the way there. If you're afraid of heights, skip the glass bottom experience. It also makes no sense to pay extra at night. You can use Easypass, and it does cost more than your MRT ride, but it is kind of a once in a lifetime experience.
N	Nick S on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fun and a little exciting (especially when the gondola stops randomly). I recommend planning to board before sunset, and taking a night ride on your return for great views. There are some affordable restaurants with great views nearby Maokong station.

We went on a drizzly Saturday morning and there were no queues for the regular cable car (the one with the transparent glass DID have a 30-min wait though). Fare from the Taipei Zoo Station all the way up to Maokong Gondola Station is NT$120 per pax. The 30-day MRT season pass does NOT cover the cable car ride but you can use the EasyCard to pay. Lovely walks at the top. Can get a tad windy so dress a little warmer on cold days.

The Mao Kong gondola ride is a leisurely ride to the top of the hill where one gets to visit tea house, street vendors selling a wide variety of local taiwanese food. Easy connection from the Taipei Zoo Station. Visited during March where the cool weather makes it an easy way to explore the whole area (although March is wet and very rainy).
