★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place - Maplewood Trail was beautiful. If you love walking you will love this place. The trail itself is beautiful but when you realise you are over looking all of Hualien it will blow you mind. Magnificent!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful night view of Hualien city. It’s just a little dark on the way up without any streetlights. And the location wasn’t specified or obvious. We weren’t sure which one to stop at. But there were two spots I assume, a lower one and a higher one. We were at the lower spot.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First of all, a word of warning: this is NOT a trail, it's a road, with relatively regular car traffic. If you want a trail, go to Cuocang trail a couple of km north. Nonetheless, this hike is very pretty, with beautiful views and lots of lush green vegetation. There are also restrooms halfway and at the trail end point. So as long as you're fine with walking on pavement and sharing the road with the occasional car, I can recommend it.
