★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The scenery is beautiful and the atmosphere is peaceful. It is not hot at all to travel there in the summer though the route is a little bit tricky, but it is still good for half day trip in Yilan.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing place with the most serene scenery. This national park is quite a pain to get to, but totally worth it. The atmosphere is very calming and the air is so fresh. There is also some really old big trees next to the hotel worth checking out. Good place to escape the Taiwan summer heat.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mingchi is part of the lealea hotel management. 1150-1700m altitude. It was used for the Taiping mountain logging tree growing area back in the old days, it is now open for recreation. The design of the mingchi lake was really interesting. The man made lake area is design as chinese 文房四寶, the guided tour has detail explanation. In short- lake is representing ink! The beauty of this park is how it change with weather. Its so beautiful either conditions. The hike to the top is breathtaking all the way. The zen garden is tastefully arranged, the vegetation and animals are abundant. We went twice within 8 hours apart and it feels like 2 completely different places.
