新的車站距離高雄車站只有兩分鐘,往下有科工館站及鳳山站等都很方便,鄰近科工館及省道台一線,外面有腳踏車可以租借,機車停車的位置也算多,但公車和捷運站皆有一小段距離轉乘就不是這麼的方便,但對於附近的居民來說是多一個交通通勤的方式,外地工作的往返方便,內部空間裝置空間很大,整體規劃很不錯?,廁所感淨舒服,清潔人員很用心,售票處附近設有充電站,方便需要的人使用,站務人員服務態度都很好,雖然車站外面的施工還在進行,相信完成後會是個不錯的地方。

民族車站位在民族路橋附近,但是實際上仍在工地之中。規定是站前行人步道不能有汽機車行駛,但是當地機車偶爾會鑽入。 區間車會停靠,大約20到30分鐘會有一班車。 這個車站往北大約1.4公里會抵達主要的高雄車站。車站裡面瀰漫著柴油味,這是因為南迴鐵路的電氣化還沒有完工,柴油火車仍會在地下段呼嘯而過。 南下的區間車,終點多在潮州,也有到枋寮的火車,但較少。北上則不然,有到新左營,台南,嘉義,彰化,台中,也有到新竹的列車。 本站是兩個側式月台,自強號呼嘯而過的時候,揚起陣陣土味。車輛誤點偶爾會發生。 因應Covid-19肺炎,進站都會細心量測體溫。需要注意,列車到站時電扶梯都轉為向上方向,如果趕車的話需走樓梯。我就因此錯過一班電車,等了半小時。 有了地下化鐵路,高雄也像巴黎。地下化台鐵就像是巴黎的RER,提供民眾通勤的新選擇,唯班車若能更密就更好了。
