Mountain Kids Coffee Roasters (MKCR) is located right next to the North Gate (Beimen). They specialize in coffee while also carrying desserts and craft beer.
It’s hard to find a place in Taipei with a view as good as this, so grab a window seat and watch the world pass by.
I’ve tried the brown sugar latte and the Osmanthus latte at Mountain Kids Coffee Roasters (MKCR). Both were good in their own way, but the brown sugar latte way was better.
The seating area is on the 2nd floor of the cafe while the 1st floor has all the coffee equipment. They filled my latte to the very top and were able to walk it to the 2nd floor without spilling a drop. Very impressive.
The food and dessert change daily. I tried the “Baked Tea” donut and it was as good as I thought it was going to be…and that’s not a positive comment. Come for the drinks, stay for the view.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chill atmosphere here. Good for chatting, working and photographing. They provided nice view to Beimen(on second floor). There weren't many seats, so need to wait for awhile on weekends afternoon. Coffee was great. Staffs were pretty kind and friendly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Currently my top choice for an authentic NZ-style flat white. Excellent espresso with alternative milk options and customizations available. A gorgeously designed interior and exterior with magnificent views of the North Gate both inside and outside. Friendly staff and good vibes. The price is a little higher but worth every cent for the quality coffee they be dropping.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great service and good coffee for sure, we tried the chestnut earl grey cheesecake (limited time only) it was NOT too sweet and the texture was fantastic.
The view of the north gate is awesome if you are lucky enough to get the seats by the window or you can simply get it to go and enjoy the coffee right in front of the gate.
One more plus point: you can get Harrits donuts here as well!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice place to get a little work done while getting caffeinated (and/or sugared) up. 11u/11d speeds, with a few outlets along the wall with the great views of Beimen on the 2nd floor, and hooks as well under the counter to hang your bag. Matcha roll was an interesting change of pace, with the slightly bitter taste of matcha present in every bite. ☕️

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Best coffee shop in Zhongzheng area. Highly recommend cinnamon buns and coffee. Flat white is smooth and very sweet. I also like the iced single origins pour over. Friendly baristas and good view of Cheng-En Gate. My fav weekend coffee place with friends.
