★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Unfortunately, when we were there at the end of Dec '16, the mud was all over the road! The mud has been bubbling away and running off the hill in the wrong way. Our shoes and pants all got ruined because we had to cross 5 cm mud to get to the stairs to even see the mud volcano. It is clear that a lot of typhoon damage has made it difficult, and unfortunately, it's still not fixed!
