★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fall/Winter are the best seasons to visit this sacred peak of Indigenous(Paiwan and Rukai).The sea of clouds is absolutely breathtaking, and hiking through the wood is such a pleasure.
Even though it's not a difficult route, I still suggest a 3-day trip so that you may fully indulge in the arms of this beauty. Get yourself a bed in 檜谷山莊(foreigners should be grouped with Taiwanese, I guess) and admission is required as well.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent for a 2 day hike. The accommodation run by the aboriginals is great and the food delicious. Be sure to get to the clearing near the lodge to watch the sun set over the sea of clouds.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Incredible hike! Definitely a must in the southern parts of Taiwan.
To me it's one of the most beautiful trails thanks to the amazing trees.
Camping is also solid, tents are big and worth the rental price, which also saves you some weight carrying.
I suggest two day one night trek. Don't let the rain in the middle part discourage you! It usually disappears at the top :)
