Excellent museum worth a visit when in Tainan. Admission is free. You can learn more about the history of the building which have existed since the Japanese occupation. It also gave a great introduction to the different genres of Taiwanese literature and some of the seminal Taiwanese authors. The exhibitions also contain very engaging and interactive elements which will appeal to families with young children.

The building is an amazing blend of the original structure and new construction. The permanent exhibit has plenty of English for non native speakers to engage with. The visiting exhibits are only in Chinese. Unfortunate but understandable. They are still visually pleasing. I would love to see the museum again with out pandemic conditions. I feel there was quite a bit that was missing due to restrictions. The library on site look awesome as well

The building is very beautiful, built by the Japanese. The Taiwanese have installed a modern internal structure that spoils everything, a terrible thing, without culture. Absolute lack of translation, are foreigners not welcome? Yet Taiwan exists thanks to American aid; the palace exists thanks to the Japanese! (JB. 1841)

A new museum exhibits the temporary arts with technology while showcases the traditional Taiwanese paintings and craft works. Bright design and architecture make it a fascinating destination with all visitors.

The Taiwan Literature Museum used to be the Tainan State Hall in the era of the Japanese rule. The architectural personality is of the Massa style. It was made of brick, stone in stone-washing style . The gable and porch are the main entrances of the building, and there are guard towers on both sides. The architectural aesthetics of classical balance was the official architectural feature of that time. After the completion of the building in 1916, which was the same as the Taipei Supervisory Yuan , it was occupied by the Air Combat Supply Command Department after World War II and then used as the Tainan Municipal Government. It has not been used and repaired by different units and different during the past periods of use. A great city, to be able to stay, can accumulate the taste and culture of the guests. When literature becomes a great extension for the public, showing the confidence of the citizens can make the city more beautiful and touching.

Great Museum with numerous exhibitions, which convey the information in modern ways with great attention to detail. Unfortunately, very little English descriptions, but still I got a lot of nice English explanations by the museum staff and other nice guests. I enjoyed my time here a lot.

Awesome service. I’m impressed with their locker service. No matter the size of the locker, you deposit 10nt and collect it back at the end. The security guard reminded me to collect it back. Much of the museum is under redecoration but there were 3 halls open and one of the exhibition caught my interest. It’s a rather large place and plenty of sitting area. Nice place to learn a little more about the city’s history.
