National Taiwan University

National Taiwan University (國立台灣大學) is the most prestigious university in Taiwan and is very accessible to transportation as it's located in the Gongguan (公館) district of Taipei City. This university counts 4 present and former presidents as among it's notable alumni (Tsai Ing-wen, Ma Ying-jeou, Chen Shui-bian, and Lee Teng-hui).

I remember mom going to work, leaving me behind when I needed her. I remember knowing that I would die if she didn't help me. I remember the tv set that came home that wrecked my emotions and fouled up my love for my family. I remember walking down the sidewalk to my home from school and saying to myself, I'm never coming back. I have an aunt who attended this university when I was very young, but I do remember this aunt taking me to her friend's house and to the university where she rambled on about I don't know what while I stood by her, eating three ice cream sandwiches. My aunt didn't seem to prize any family values while she was attending college. She appeared to just want to party all the time, and one year after college, after she worked at a company where she met an American, she packed a suitcase and left the country, leaving me crying and confused. I think my grandparents wanted her to go to graduate school because obviously undergraduate work was unsatisfactory to them. My aunt ended up with two graduate degrees and some very hefty jobs, but she never married, nor did she raise any children. She once commented that she "never met a man she really liked". I think this has to do with ESL being the culprit, situations too complicated to explain. I wish the university cared about people rather than churn out graduates and run their hospital with no care about the employee's families, but that is another story. Taiwan once tried to popularize the "well-to-do families". With elementary school text books stressing the lack of such families is a sign that people don't respect each other. People can't be high-tailing out of the country with no one looking after them. It's a pity that such a good idea would fall so short of becoming real.

Visited 21st Jan. 2022. Great world class campus and environment, very walkable and bike-able, even has Youbike stations on-campus. The only thing to note that I observed (at the side gates) is the very lax security, eg. no security guards or campus police at the side gates to conduct identity checks or visitor registration, and lack of pandemic counter-measures , eg. scanning QR code and temperature checks. These are standard operating procedures in almost every university, and I'm afraid that the absence of these could be a ticking time bomb if they are not resolved as soon as possible.

Thats a vast campus area full of natural parks and beautiful landscapes. When you get in NTU territory you don't quite get it is a University at first. It more looks like a botanical garden. It's absolutely amazing atmosphere to study here.

Very beautiful university , open campus for visiting. There are many Ubike station inside and outside , it's so convenient and very good to spend your late afternoon explore the campus.

In the spring season, Chinese fringe trees are just blooming, they are very unique tree in Taiwan. Some suppose they are more beautiful than cherry blossoms. Please do enjoy them in the right days.
