Shenkeng Elementary School was founded during the Japanese occupation period. The school has a history of 115 years. There is a lecture hall built during the "Shenkeng Public School" period on the campus. It is listed as a historical building in New Taipei City. Made of cypress and full of cypress fragrance, Zhong Mingsheng, principal of Shenkeng Elementary School, said that the lecture hall is a common memory of the people of Shenkeng. Now it is used as an auditorium and is open to community sharing. In the late Qing Dynasty, Shenkeng was the distribution center for important mountain and forest materials in the Jingmei River Basin. In the early days of the Japanese occupation, it was also the place where the armed conflict between the Japanese army and the Anti-Japanese Rebel Army was located. In view of governance considerations, the Japanese established Shenkeng Public School on April 17, the thirty-second year of the Meiji Period (1899). In the thirty-fourth year of Meiji (1901), the reform of the local official system led to the establishment of Shenkeng Hall on Shenkeng Street. In the Shenkeng area, due to the reduction of armed conflicts and the transformation of transportation, in the 42nd year of Meiji (1909), the local system was reformed, the Shenkeng Hall was abolished, and the Shenkeng Branch Office was established under the Taipei Hall. In the second year of Taisho (1913), Shenkeng Public School was able to acquire a building of the Wude Club in Shenkeng Hall, which was used as a classroom and dormitory; in the seventh year of Taisho (1918), two brick classrooms were completed. Judging from the old photos during the Japanese occupation period and the history of Shenkeng Public School recorded in Shenkeng Township Chronicles, the current auditorium school building was built during the Taisho period, and has a history of about 90 years.
