After years of preservation and promotion, the Gong family, the owner of the theater, is willing to Provide the county government for preservation, repair and public use, so the old theater gets an opportunity for preservation and rebirth. On June 19, 1998, Dafu Theater announced that it was registered as a historic building in Yunlin County. The county government began a restoration survey and research plan and planning design in the 100th year of the Republic of China. In order to continue to promote the restoration project, after the design was completed in 104, That is to apply for the 105 annual subsidy plan from the Cultural Assets Bureau of the Ministry of Culture and obtain the central government's consent for subsidies. After more than ten times of engineering outsourcing, the restoration project of Beigang Grand Theater finally entered the construction stage. It is expected to be completed in mid-108. At that time, the completion of the restoration will give the historic building new life, reproduce the spatial characteristics and historical features of the theater, and re-integrate The life of local residents in Beigang has become a new bright spot in Beigang, reproducing the style of the past. In order to preserve and revitalize the Beigang Grand Theater, the Yunlin County Government actively sought funding from the Cultural Assets Bureau of the Ministry of Culture for the restoration of the historic Beigang Grand Theater. After receiving the subsidy on January 7, 105, the restoration project bidding operation was initiated. More than ten contracts have been issued, and the restoration project will start on March 5, 107. The total project cost is NT $ 20.29 million, with a construction period of 400 days. It is expected to be completed in mid-108.

Beigang Dafu Theater was built in Showa 2 (1927) during the Japanese Occupation Period. It was originally named "Beigangzuo". It is the oldest theater in Beigang Town, Yunlin. After the return of Taiwan, it was renamed "Dafu Theater" to provide new (narrative) dramas. , Taiwanese opera, Peking opera, puppet theater, traditional special skills, movie stars singing and dancing on stage, movies and other performance stages and auditoriums are common memories in the hearts of many people in Beigang.
