NTU Prince House

I stayed in this dormitory as part of the NTU Summer programme. It is a stone’s throw away from NTU and Gongguan train station, with a 7-11 just minutes away, offering convenience. However, I second another reviewer’s comment about the office blinds installed in rooms, which meant that you’d most likely wake up with the sun. Also, the bed length was unusually short (I’m not too sure if it’s common in Taiwan), despite the fact that I have a short stature (~155cm).

"My girlfriend lives in the Prince House A Shui Yuan dorm, which is the National Taiwan University dorm. She found out that the dorm has three big problems in addition to many others: there are mouses, cockroaches and no heating system in winter. About the heating system, when It was winter, there was no heating system so She became ill and had to take antibiotics and rest for One whole months. About the insects, She always saw insects in the public hall at the First floor while people study or eat. About mouses, She found out mouses three times in May at late time, two times in the public trash area of the 13 floor, and once in her kitchen while she was relaxing on the sofa. After the third time She saw the mouse, She soon reported It to the reception of the dorm and they said they Will clean more. But After, She and other people Also found out a cockroach which was in the public corridor (not in her kitchen) of the 13 floor. She was tired of seeing mouses and cockroaches since both of them carry bacterias and the dorm Also do not have heating system in Winter so She said She does not want to pay the last month rent. Also because She found out the cockroach around the First days of June and because of the rules of the dorm, She has to Say One month before when She Can move out. So She wanted to move out but could not because of the rules, and is asked to pay the full month as usual. But She thinks paying 8800 every month for having mouses cockroaches and no heating system is too much and Also a potential public danger for public health of students Who live in all the Prince House Shui Yuan dorm which could Be even 600 or more: for example the mouses carry a illness called plague while not having heat system May cause fever to students. As It happened to her. Since this, She does not want to pay the last month and want back the two months deposit as well as a refund and a promise that the dorm will install an heat system and Will not have anymore mouses and cockroaches. But the dorm replied saying you need to pay the last month rent to get your deposit back and we do not give you any refund and Also they did not promise to put an heating system or not having the cockroach or mouse but Only said they Will sanitaize the room of the people Who Ask It. They Also said the kitchen of my GF was messy when It is clear than only mess is not an excuse for mouses and cockroaches since in her country and everywhere Only having a messy kitchen does not make you have mouses and cockroaches. My girlfriendend clearly thinks the director care Only about the money than not about the safety of the students. They often give message to prevent from other illnesses but they only pretend ti care about the students. Because actually if they really cared they would put an heat system and nobody would see mouses and cockroaches. So She wants not to pay this last month and a refund but the dorm does not want. How the law rules in this case? Many people Can potentially get ill because perhaps they do not think to have mouses and they not Ask to sanitaize their Place and get ill and even could get ill in Winter as It happened to my girlfriend. Should She have a refund and the building should get fined? She does not have picture of the mouses but of the cockroach Yes and of course She Can prove She was ill and prove there is no heat system and She Can prove all' the conversation with the director"

The university had a BOT contract with a local home builder in Taiwan. Even though the builder is famous for doing good work, this dorm is not up there with the standard. Probably because of the cost constraint. The concrete pouring and curing process may-be shortened. I would rate the building quality to be a 'C' with mediocre amenities. The high turnover of student here gives some of the worst incentives too. A sound proofing remodel is coming up as I am writing the review (2017). Other than the above, I love the location and the people.

Went I got there in 2015, the room was super dirty and nothing was provided at all. Go get some cleaning stuff at the 7-11 and prepare to clean for 2-3 hours. Clean everything. Then go buy a mattress and some stuff to make yourself at home. We gathered as a group of students and went to the IKEA to get some cheap stuff. You can set-up a small WiFi in your room with a pocket router (recommended). You can also ask the clerks at front desk for the keys to go on the rooftop and enjoy a good beer at night. You can have some parcel delivered to your address. The staff is usually friendly and will answer your question. There is a bike parking to park your bike. Make sure to lock-it up. A bike is a must to go to school and get back to school quickly, or just go around. You can sell it on Facebook when you are done with the school.

Great looking Dorm from the outside, but need some maintenance in the individual rooms...... I agree that it is cleaner than most dorms, but many of my friends are having trouble with molds. The mattress they sell in the dorms are too hard, and need some getting to used to. Also, do not buy shower curtains from the dorms..... its too short, and gets everything wet....

Too Bad. horrible, If you have a baby then you should not come here. Some of the staff are over smart , and some of the staff are really good.. Horrible experiences.. Some times they make wrong allegations with the power of guessing sense send mail to Lab professor.. If you find out the truth that allegations was not for your room number, that was anyone else, they will just say sorry to you but do not re mail your professor after correction. Even though it is a family apartment, they will drive you away if your baby's voice is heard.. If you can control baby's cry or baby's loud voice then it's OK.. Othrws 1st try to find homely room , if not then try Hsiu Chi House.

As i already wrote, there were mouses and cockroaches in the dorm. I always woke up because of hearing people talking in the corridors. The service at the reception does not talk in English the most of the time. The bosses of the dorm do not want to do anything for the dorm. The curtains are for Office and therefore do not cover from the sun. There was nothing in the room, neither a lamp or the mattress. I cannot even invite any friend After 23:00 and neither my boyfriend. There are always insects in the hall. And there was no cooking stuff in the kitchen. They only want money from students and that's all. I Will never return to live there! I even contacted the EPA, but the EPA now teaches at NTU, so of course they did not fine the dorm for not being clean. Shame...

Good place, great looking dorm from outside, but not as good as it is from inside. Great quality and service, one of the best compared to the rest of the dorms, so of course it's a little bit pricey. It's a very tall building, you can see a great view from the building especially from the rooftop.
