The Little Horse Cathedral is the third work of the Swiss Bethlehem monk Rev. Julius Felder after he came to Taiwan. He designed and built more than 40 church buildings in Taitung. He is good at using geometric roofs and polygonal plain facades to create a simple and powerful architectural appearance. With carefully designed window arrangements, the church altars can be placed in a small space. There is still plenty of light in the indoor space, creating the spaciousness and sacredness of the altar. His representative works include Bailenghui Taiwan Branch Hall (listed historic buildings), Pony Catholic Church (listed historic buildings), Taitung Xingang Presbyterian Church Church (listed historic buildings), Baosang Catholic Church, Dulan Catholic Church, Taitung The Presbyterian Church and so on. The Xiaoma Catholic Church is a masterpiece of Fu Yi Architecture. There are many window holes between the conical roof (called the roof of the hat by Brother Fu) and the wall, allowing a large number of natural light sources to shine around the altar, creating a sacred and solemn atmosphere. Stained glass is used on both sides of the altar. It was designed by Chuanyi monks, and then German monks in Xinying were invited to complete the construction. This is quite rare in Taiwan, where there is no traditional stained glass craftsmanship. The most special appearance is the use of buttresses (buttress, an arm-like structure set outside the main wall that bears the roof gravity to disperse the pressure of the roof. This design is commonly seen in Gothic buildings in the Middle Ages in Europe), and the outer wall uses natural The irregular lines of the stone slabs are like real stone. It is said that the monk later went back to Europe and told his family that the ashes would be buried in the Pony Catholic Church after death, so the ashes were sent to Taiwan and buried in the backyard of the Pony Catholic Church. There are eight tombs in the backyard. In addition to the seven who have been buried, there is another cemetery. It is empty and reserved for future clergy. The whole church makes people feel peaceful.
