I purchased QNAP NAS couple of years ago for home use. This company’s quality has gone down over the years, especially in terms of firmware updates. Now maintaining this NAS has become a chore for me as this company is releasing 2 to 3 firmware updates almost every month. My guess is that they release buggy firmware updates to all their consumers and then right after that they release bug update and then they release another bug update to the previous bug update. They have no regard to how much time the consumers have to spend on updating their systems. It takes about 30 mins for me to update the firmware as it requires 2 reboots. Multiply that with thousands or millions of consumers that they have. You can imagine the man hours this company is wasting for all the consumers combined. I had brought this to their attention and had requested them to test their firmware before releasing, but nothing has changed. They probably don’t even have a QA or Testing team. I encourage users / consumer to reach out to QNAP and request them to spend more time in testing their firmware updates so they don’t have to release more than one update per month and be sensitive to all the man hours consumers have to waste in updating their firmware.

This is not a enterprise company. Never ever built or trust your company with QNAP. Beware what you buy. Now I'm fighting for months with a unprofessional support who doesn't have the knowledge to help you the correct way. There are a lot of problems with the new QTS5 and it's app's but QNAP support employees are searching inside your hardware to decline your support request and blame a piece of hardware as the problem. For a long time I like QVR Pro (in my opinion the only app that works, not perfect but it can do.) for the rest you buy a to expensive NAS with horrible software who is not finished. No wonder the QNAP is vulnerable the firewall isn't working or complete. And if you are reporting bugs you get the answer: "thank you we send it to R&D as a feature request"... It's a bug! Also they have the power to lock your NAS if the app-store looking for upgrades, new version, important one? The app stops without notice until you login to the QTS and see. This is ridicules! It happend with my and my customers with QVR PRO in December; in a support case they have made apology for this. Biggest problem with QNAP: Support, it looks like kindergarden. They are polite but doesn't have the knowledge and motivation to help. If you buy QNAP you can work with it as long as the hardware works or QNAP doesn't pushes upgrades.
