負責人洪瑞鎰先生擁有三十多年的藝術資歷，自一九八三年與堂兄洪平濤共同創辦台北「敦煌藝術中心」開始，便打下深厚基礎。一九九二年至台中精明一街創立「世代藝術中心」，並在此打造徒步街區，與美術系所合辦戶外雕塑裝置藝術展覽等藝文活動，引領全台社區總體營造的風潮。一九九八年另創新品牌「大河美術」，致力長期經紀優秀的當代藝術家，達到藝術專業分工化。二○一二年初，大河美術進駐苗栗知名景點三義水美木雕街，打造全新的當代藝術空間，讓民眾與藝術更親近，也為傳統藝品店林立的老街注入一股新的活水。二〇二〇年搬遷回台中市區，未來將以更加年輕與專業的嶄新面貌，迎接各路的藝術愛好者！

過去，大河美術以敏銳的眼光發掘了台灣藝術家李真及洪易，而今兩位皆於國際大放異彩。二○○九年起第二代陸續加入後，轉以國際化視角經營，不受地域、媒材限制，積極尋找新一代具備獨特風格與潛力之創作者，期許帶領優秀藝術家踏上世界的舞台發光發熱。二○一三年後進一步拓展經營領域，陸續舉辦重要藝術家如劉國松、蕭勤、邱亞才、草間彌生收藏展，以此銜接現當代藝術並與國際接軌。 

大河孕育了生命，也開啟了文明，這條不斷延伸的命脈，滋養著不同土地上的人們，為藝術打造不平凡的沃土。這正是我們的使命，讓藝術家有寬闊的舞台，展現不同文化的厚度及更具生命力的創作。未來，我們將以穩健的腳步成長，走出台灣，放眼國際，以期成就更廣闊的藝術視野！

The person in charge, Mr. Hung Juei-Yi, has more than thirty years experience in the world of art. In 1983, he started the “Caves Art Center” in Taipei together with his cousin Hung Ping-Tao, laying a solid foundation. He went to Taichung in 1992 to found the “Style Gallery” on Jingming 1st Street, where he also built a pedestrian area. Together with Fine Arts Departments, he organized cultural events, such as outdoor sculpture installation art exhibitions, which led to a wave of comprehensive community development across Taiwan. In 1998, he created the new brand “River Art,” devoting himself as a long-term agent for outstanding contemporary artists and thus becoming specialized in the art industry. At the beginning of 2012, River Art, which was relocated in Miaoli’s famous tourist attraction Sanyi Shuimei Woodcarving Street, created a brand-new contemporary art space, bringing people closer to art and also injecting new life into the old street lined with traditional arts and crafts shops. 

In the past, River Art used its keen eye to discover the Taiwanese artists Li Chen and Hung Yi, who now shine on the international stage. When the second generation started to join in one after the other from 2009 onwards, the focus turned to the international market. Without restrictions of geography or media, there was an active search for a new generation of artists with a unique style and potential, with the hope of leading outstanding artists to shine on the world stage. After 2013, the market area was further expanded. A succession of important artists’ exhibitions was held, such as Liu Kuo-Sung, Hsiao Chin, Chiu Ya-Tsai, and Yayoi Kusama, to link modern and contemporary art together and to have connection with international platform. 

The river gave birth to life and also paved the way for civilization. This continuously-stretching lifeline nourishes the people of different lands, creating an extraordinary fertile ground for art. This is our mission, allowing artists to have a wide stage and showing the different depths of culture as well as creations with more vitality. In the future, we will continue to grow with a steady pace, moving beyond Taiwan with an international perspective so as to achieve a broader artistic vision!
