Rose House - Yongkang shop

I personally think this is a fine restaurant. Price is good and environment reminds me of old memories. Plus tea is excellent here.

I saw a tiny roach that was moving around the plate, I showed to the waitress, she didn't do anything about it, no sorry to be mentioned in the end either. Every time I passed by there, always reminded me of the moving tiny roach around the cakes...

The quality of drinks far exceeds the quality of the foods, but since the prices are quite reasonable considering the luxurious setting, I give it a solid 4.5 stars.

I took my 9 year old son here for a nice meal, and while we joked about some photos we have taken that day, we were told by the staff to keep our voices down. We were no louder than anyone else, and I found it bizarre because the customers they want to protect, in fact, include the two of us. But perhaps we did not order two complete meals and drinks to satisfy their interest. We left immediately and won't be back.

Great atmosphere. Good food. Good service. Service can be slow when real busy, but that just gives you time to enjoy your conversation in very pleasant surroundings and a rare Taiwan restaurant where you can actually hear yourself talk.

BYOM! (more later) So, Rose House has all the trappings of a solid English-style tea experience. Nice decor? Check. Fancy chinaware? Check. Tiered tray of sweets and savories? Check. Interesting variety of teas? Check. But... then it falls apart a bit on execution. First, the milk. They ran out, so after asking a few times, I ending up having to go to 7-11 to buy some. Here's a random idea... if the kitchen is out of milk, maybe a staff member could have gone to 7 instead? Or, use Food Panda... takes like 20 minutes. This is not like a beef noodle restaurant that has no need for milk. This is an English-style afternoon tea house... that means tea, with milk, and sugar. But for now, "Bring Your Own Milk" (BYOM). A few more trifling execution misses: (1) the tiered food tray is meant to be shared by two people, so most tea places would have two of every item (here, we had to less-than-artfully split). (2) Please don't "refresh" my fruit tea (that doesn't have a tea bag in it) with more hot water... that just makes it into lightly scented hot water. (3) Sugar in packets is kind of low-rent.

Wow! What an amazing find! The ambience was very posh and the food and tea were delish! I definitely recommend coming here. You can be solo, on a date with your family, your kids or your girlfriends. It was great!

I love this place for a tea time. The price is really great too! My only suggestion is to make some of the tea time items ala carte.. or at least allow people to order more scones. Scones are the best part of tea time! :)
