The Alishan Sacred Tree (Shenmu or 神木) is one of the most notable Alishan attractions. The trees are a short train ride away, 1.5km or about 10 minutes on on the Shenmu Railway Line. Fares for adults one way was 100 NTD = 3 USD, elderly gets 50% off.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Located next to the fallen Sacred Tree. Only one station from here to Alishan Train station. Half hourly. Recommended to walk from Alishan town to sacred tree, spend some times around the area, trek some trails and then take the train from this station back to Alishan train station.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sacred trees of generations. First generation of sacred trees died out after hundreds of years, but that’s not the end of life. Second generation of sacred trees grew up on their trunks to continue the life of nature. When the second generation went through their life cycle, the third and latest generation of sacred trees rose from the top of the tree trunk. Life never dies out with a period.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best traveling points in Taiwan. From Alishan train station, you can take train to here, and then start to walk in the forest, see amazing trees view.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The train station of Shenmu Line - I would prefer to translate it to ‘magical woods’ rather than ‘sacred tree’. From here you can walk around and find many old cypresses which are as old as two thousand years and as tall as almost hundred meters. It is quite a magical experience.
