The afternoon tea and happy hour were in the unpleasant banquet room with no windows, no atmosphere, sports being played on 3 huge screens and definitely not of a standard that we paid for. We thought about going back so called to check if they were using other rooms for afternoon tea and happy hour. Unfortunately the reply was that we would have the pleasure of using the banquet room. It's no pleasure. They use other much more pleasant rooms on different days yet charge more on the banquet room days. I am very disappointed about this and think it is a bit of a rip off to use a lesser room and charge more. You will not want to hang around in the banquet room so check first.
N	N L on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had a visit earlier to purchase thier Shang signature room spray. So glad I could get the same one from Shang in Bangkok. Note: Surprisingly the staffs at Shang Taipei couldn't really be able to communicate (well) in English especially the customer facing one at the elevator, the cake (tea room). I assumed, after past 2 years of this bad pandemic they may not get a chance to encounter much with the forienger or visitors. The customer service at health club is good one and super fluent :)
J	Justin Ko on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Due to COVID-19 there are not so many tourists in Taiwan at the moment. Perhaps for this reason the room rates right now at the Shangri La are quite affordable. I was able to book a room with a nice view of the Taipei 101 for a good price. The rooftop pool is the best part of this hotel and is something that I think few if any other hotels in Taiwan can match. The room itself was quite large and well equipped, and I was fortunate to get a high floor. The view from the pool is also outstanding. Service is also pretty good though somewhat constrained due to COVID-19. There is also a gym, a "health club" and a sauna although this is at a lower level so the view is not so nice. Overall I think it was a very good experience at a luxury hotel at rates that are lower than competing luxury hotels in Taipei such as W Taipei. Perhaps the vibe from the W is more "fun" and "hip", and the location at the Shangri La is more out of the way than the hotels right in the Xinyi district, but I don't mind a more laid back experience this time around.
T	Terri L. Payk on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great stay here celebrating our anniversary. We stayed on the 32nd of 40 floors. The view was incredible. At night, we got hungry but were too lazy to go out so we ordered a pizza from room service. I had a strong craving for a crispy apple which I asked if there was any way they could give me. The woman in room service said that someone would be up with two apples straight away, which they were! The pizza was tasty and the apples a perfect follow-up. The room was small but clean and had all of the lovely amenities that one would need for a night away from home. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
