平交道跟火車站太接近,造成要過平交道的車輛需多等區間車到站乘客上下車柵欄放下的時間,尤其是竹東往新竹的區間車平交道要等近5分鐘造成當地人困擾!

上員車站為竹中轉運站往內灣的第一站,距竹中車站2.5 km,設於民國59年2月,屬於招呼站,即僅設月台而無站員,月台型式為岸式,可停靠柴油列車四節,單日平均載客數15人。 上員站和同線的富貴站有一點相似,那就是兩站都是設在平交道旁的招呼站,僅有一座岸式月台和遮雨棚。不同的是,富貴站看起來別有風情,上員站卻有些索然無味,或許是因為周邊沒有美麗的風景,只有車水馬龍的道路之外,另外就是翻新後的月台與橫山站、榮華站都差不多,總覺得有些沒有特色。 查了一下資料,才發現~其實我們現今看到的車站,已經是第三代月台了喔!!!第一代月台,也就是民國59年2月設立當時,就已經是無人看管的招呼站,沒有車站建築先不說,甚至連遮雨篷都沒有,只有一段月台。但是,第一代月台有一個特色,那就是它是木造的!光想像起來一定就超特別的~~可惜木造月台肯定不耐用,重新舖設也不意外。 而到了第二代月台,變成以柏油重舖,而且它是直接舖在原本的木造月台上頭的,從月台側面還能看到木板呢!到了這個第三代水泥月台... 好吧...就真的變成一個普通的車站了... 另外,這個車站沒有站務人員,因此上車下車都要利用自助刷卡的方式。

I checked the information and found out that the station we see today is already the third-generation platform!!! The first-generation platform, which was established when it was established in February 59, was unattended. Greeting station, not to mention the station building, not even the canopy, only a platform. However, one feature of the first-generation platform is that it is made of wood! Imagine it must be super special~~Unfortunately, the wooden platform is definitely not durable, and it is no accident to re-lay it. On the second-generation platform, it was re-paved with asphalt, and it was directly laid on the original wooden platform. The wooden board can be seen from the side of the platform! By this third-generation concrete platform... Well...it really became an ordinary station... In addition, there is no station staff at this station, so you have to use self-service swipe to get on and off the bus.
