A fantastic busy and loud market!

Sad to see so few people at Shilin night market during COVID travel restrictions (No tourists). But still amazing food! ? ?

This market was a little quiet when I was there. Vendors can be quiet pushy in the underground area. Not sure if it's a dying market or just an off night. Some good stuff in the area but probably not the best in Taipei. There's competing giant fried chicken places so that seemed to be the specialty of the market.

Visited on 21 august from 430 to 630 pm. A lot of stores were closed due to coronavirus and lack of visitors but even at that early time there were a decent amount of food vendors open. Overall not very crowded with people. The underground food market was very sparse but the games area still had plenty of booths open to include shooting and throwing games and fish catching. Highly recommend the super cute Totoro egg biscuits!!!

This famous night market in taiwan is in Shi Lin District of Taipei. All souvenir items, and taiwan's best tasting street foods, fruits, and ready to cook foods from seafoods to chinese noodles at the basement. Souvenir shops and other chinese novelty items are also sold here....For greater bargains for souvenirs of taiwan... a must visit...

Shilin Night Market is the most well-known of the night markets in Taipei. It can be considered a foodie's paradise just based on the sheer number of street food stalls packing the area surrounding Shilin Temple. The lively market is certainly popular for both locals and tourists. There are plenty of curious snacks to be found in this regional melting pot. The Fuzhou pork pepper bun is a must-try combination of marinated meat and crunchy dough that comes fresh out of the hot oven. And in case one happens to desire BBQ meat stuffed with veggies, you can find the tasty treat. Oyster egg omelettes are of course also available at a specialty shop, and a fresh dish arrived on the table soon after ordering. I avoided the sticky tofu but this market is even home to an original Hot-Star Chicken. The aroma, flavour and crispy crunch of the extra large fried chicken is terrific particularly with their spice powder. Many of the vendors have been offering the same things for decades and certainly know what they're doing. I couldn't help but make the mistake of trying too much food which left me stuffed but very satisfied. Many more hawker dishes and fruits are within the Shilin Market mall in addition to the main and side streets. There are night markets elsewhere but Shilin is the place for the full experience. Better yet, you can combine the visit with a trip ahead of time to nearby National Palace Museum to see the past Emperors' imperial collection too.

The night market is situated near Jiantian MRT station. The night market spread over the large area and it has cosmetic, food stalls, clothes, sports, watches, piercings sections. The night markets offers deliciously cuisine at affordable price. The night market is usually crowded at weekends. The night market has one beautiful temple. You need to take care while walking because the roads are home to scooters too. I didn't find Any restroom at the night market.
