Fuguijiao Lighthouse, formerly known as Fuguijiao Lighthouse, is the northernmost lighthouse in Taiwan. Construction began in 1896 (Meiji 29) and was completed in 1897 (Meiji 30). The second lighthouse built during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan was built for the construction of submarine cables and airway equipment between Taiwan and Japan. The land was purchased from Lin Wande, a resident of Tamsui, with a total area of ​​31,750 square meters. The building materials are all shipped from Japan, and the iron tower is made by the Tanaka Iron Works in Tokyo. The original structure of the tower was made of octagonal iron, with a height of 30 meters. Due to the thick fog in the area, it was painted with black and white parallel stripes. It was bombed by the US military during World War II. In 1954, it was temporarily replaced by a steel frame tower. Part of the land of the lighthouse (concrete tower body) was borrowed by the military to build a radar station. In 1962, it was converted into an octagonal concrete tower. In 1973, a radio benchmark was added. In 1981, a fog whistle of the Electric Fog was also used for the first time in Taiwan. Jurisdiction: Under the jurisdiction of the Port Bureau of the Ministry of Communications of the Republic of China, there are guards, and it will be opened on August 29, 2015.
