★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 20 years ago this part of Taichung was dilapidated and filthy, and the canal was stinky and dead. They did a remarkable job cleaning up the area, channelling the water, and building walk ways and bridges. It's a great neighborhood to hang out, shop cheaply, eat Taiwanese and Vietnamese snacks, and enjoy wonderful ice cream.
