Very oily, thick batter and dried tempura. Two stars to the green tea jello and service. Disappointed seeing the good ratings on Google Map.

Horrible service and overall dining experience. Tonight, a family came to the restaurant and started playing a loud cartoon for their toddler at an adjacent table. I brought this to the attention of the staff, who apparently asked the family to turn off the video. The family refused and continued to play the cartoon. Upon leaving, I informed one of the staff of my disappointment that customers are allowed to disturb other customers by turning the restaurant into their living room. The staff member didn't even look me in the eye and basically said that there's nothing they can do if a customer doesn't comply with their requests. A restaurant where a meal routinely costs over $1,000 pp should not tolerate low-class behavior, and should employ staff capable of handling situations where customers behave inappropriately. I did notice that most of the front-line staff tonight were different than the staff that I've seen before. In addition to the issue with the rude customer, one of the servers brought an empty soy sauce container to the table. No reason to come here for such poor service when there are tons of great Japanese restaurants in Taipei.

A decent tempura restaurant inside Sogo. Not a place to go if you are really hungry as the portions are on the small side. Dishes are served as they are being prepared, so there can be a wait in between each dish. Highlights of the meal: prawn head, corn husk, corn and chawamushi. The prawn head is separated from the body, before being destroyed and then fried. It's light and crunchy and packed full of prawn flavor. Eating the corn husk is somewhat like eating cotton candy, it's hardly there but the smell of the corn permeates the whole mouth every time I took a bite. The corn itself was so sweet and crunchy. Lastly the chawamushi which was done jus right, making it silky like tofu but packed full of flavor.

Got the $680 set and it met my expectations. Chawanmushi was probably the highlight, fern salad was delicious, and miso soup and seaweed tempura appetizer were solid. The tempura wasn't the best as the batter had more gluten formation than I'm accustomed to but at this price range, it was still quite good. Really solid value.

This is one of best Tempura restaurants in Taipei. The food is acceptable and the price is reasonable.

Pretty good Tempura, the batter is crispy and seafood is juicy not overcooked. The fish Tempura was done perfect.

Was a little hesitant to go in because of the price. But the food, the dining environment and customer service are absolutely worthy. Tempura were made at the front, but I barely felt the oily smelt even I was set at the bar. Pepper Mint Tea was perfect for digesting the meal, dessert is very very tasty as well.
